Pobalscoil Chorea Dhuibhne’s teachers get a lesson in uniformity!

Anyone visiting Dingle’s Pobalscoil Chorea Dhuibhne last Monday might have been rather confused to find the teachers wearing school uniforms and the students in ‘civvies’.

An initative as part of a project they will submit to YSI, a TY programme which allows young people to highlight issues and causes pertinent to their lives, saw students at the school wear their own clothes while their muinteoirí enjoyed a day wearing the Pobalscoil Chorea Dhuibhne’s geansaí, bristí, léine nó sciorta scoile. And hilarity ensued when some of the teachers were mistaken for secondary school students by their peers!

Teachers at the pobalscoil agreed to wear the uniforms in an effort to raise funds for Cuan Counselling, a service which offers vital support to young people up to the age of 25 in the West Kerry area and which is in danger of closing due to cutbacks.

A group of fourth years came up with the idea in an effort to save the service from closing down and this uniform day was just one in a series of fund-raising efforts held over the past few months.
