Using Technology to Change the World

To create audio book version of Junior Cert novels and plays, to create a website and to improve literacy levels in their school and local community. They also set up a Junior Book Club and read with 1st class boys in the local primary school.
The team held a book fair in the school library and a writer’s workshop. They also set up a book character Friday. Everyone in the school must dress up as a character from their favourite book.
As part of their project, they carried out shared reading with both the local primary school and the senior citizens at St. Colman’s Hospital.
They worked with Junior Cert students, the school principal, the Rathdrum Boys National School and St. Coleman’s hospital. They have also been in contact with two award winning authors. An article was published in The Wicklow People.
