YSI Advocates for Social Justice

What is it?

The YSI Advocates for Social Justice is a large network of young people who work to promote human rights, justice and fairness for everyone.

Who we are

The YSI Advocates network is made up of young social innovators, i.e. young people who have carried out a YSI project in the past and who want to continue to make a difference in their community and in the world.

What we commit to

YSI Advocates commit to three things:

  • Caring about and contributing to making a difference in our community
  • Pursuing justice and fairness for others
  • Encouraging other young people to become young social innovators, i.e. to create change in how we care for others in society

YSI Advocates for Social Justice Team

The Advocates Team drives the work of the network. Members of the team work with YSI to promote social justice education and action amongst young people in Ireland.

YSI Advocates for Social Justice: Project 2010

This year the YSI Advocates for Social Justice Team is taking a stand for human rights education. It is beginning this by exploring the experience of young people's right to human rights education in Ireland. You can join in this project and email your ideas to us at educate@youngsocialinnovators.ie

Keep checking this space for more information during the year.

Message to the YSI Advocates from Mary Robinson, Patron of Young Social Innovators

"Human rights education is a powerful force for change in our lives and in the world. Every person has the right to this education but not every person experiences this learning in real and tangible ways. Learning by doing is the key to realizing this human right.

I wish the YSI Advocates for Social Justice well in their project to explore the experience of human rights education in Ireland amongst teenagers. I am delighted to hear that they have decided to look at this and come up with more innovative ways and actions which will ensure that this fundamental right of every person is realized in new and meaningful ways in Ireland. Through this work, young people also end up educating their parents! I look forward to hearing about your project during the year."
