Design for Change World Showcase in Taiwan
by Rachel Collier, CEO and Co-founder of Young Social Innovators
At the beginning of December I was honoured to be invited to the Design for Change World Showcase in Taiwan. This event hosted hundreds of primary school children from around the world who came to describe their innovations for a better world. It was a wonderful event and really demonstrated how harnessing the ideas and talents of youth, the world can evolve in a fairer and more sustainable way. Take a look at the World Showcase highlights video, which gives a flavour of the event.
Design for Change is a global movement which began in 2009 with its inspirational roots at the Riverside School, Ahmedabad, India and has gone on to inspire millions of primary school children from over 60 countries to express their own ideas for a better world and put these into action.
YSI is now looking for some 5th and 6th years in 4 primary schools to pilot the Design for Change programme with YSI in the New Year. If they do, they could represent Ireland in Rome in 2019 with thousands of other Design for Change students. Get in touch with YSI if you want to be one of these!
