Salary: Pay band €50,000 - €65,000 depending on experience.
Line Manager: CEO
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week (Hybrid) | three days to be based onsite at DCU Alpha.

Young Social Innovators is a non-profit Organisation that believes in the power of youth. Its vision is to empower, equip and inspire young people to change the world for good. Through its programmes, training and events, Young Social Innovators enables young people to grapple with difficult social issues, advocating reform and advancing change. Each year, circa 15,000 young people are supported to explore social and environmental issues that concern them and to come up with a variety of responses to these issues. In this way, Young Social Innovators builds social capital and helps young people create a fairer and more caring Ireland connecting into a wider global movement for change.
Purpose of Role
The role of Operations Manager is a critical management role with Young Social Innovators. Along with the wider YSI team, the appointee will work to enable YSI to thrive in promoting social awareness, engagement, and innovation among young people across Ireland. We are looking for someone with strong competencies and a proven track in operations and office administration. In addition, the successful appointee will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of YSI. They will work closely with the CEO and management team to ensure that YSI runs smoothly and efficiently. The role of Operations Manager will be critical to ensuring the success of YSI and its mission.
The role requires a confident, driven individual with an ability to communicate effectively and to influence others.
Duties of the Role
As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to the success of the charity. These tasks will include:
- Developing and implementing YSIs policies, procedures, and systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the charity's operations.
- Staff Management and development.
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day HR and Technology functions of YSI, implementing new improved systems and processes in line with operational requirements.
- Effective management of internal administration functions and maintaining high levels of efficiency.
- Management and maintenance of the Social Innovation Lab. To include supporting the wider team in promotion of the lab and management of bookings/events.
- Work closely with the comms team supporting in the effective management of events logistics.
- Play a key role in contributing to the development of improved internal control systems across relevant areas of control, including documentation of systems.
- Engage with relevant parties on the development of processes and IT solutions to change/improve the internal systems as required.
- To report to the CEO and senior leadership team in relation to these matters, including preparation of monthly monitoring report as well as contributing to board and committee papers.
- To lead on Operations Risk Management and Complaints and Compliments register.
- Manage all aspects of Health and Safety for the organisation including adherence to current legislation
- Liaise with and support the wider YSI team in the development and preparation of funding and investment (sponsorship) proposals (i.e., equipment costings etc).
- Ad-hoc reporting as required.
Other Duties:
- To work closely with the Senior Leadership Team in setting and delivering on YSI strategy.
- Attendance at management team meetings and senior leadership meetings (as required).
- Employees are expected to have a high level of flexibility and a willingness and ability to develop new approaches to their work. Duties and responsibilities of any post at Young Social Innovators are likely to change with the ongoing needs and development
- Ad hoc duties as required, in line with the purpose of the role.
Person Specification:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a non-profit or charity setting.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field (desirable).
- Knowledge of Human Resources administration (desirable).
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing non-profit organizations re. operational standards and best practice.
- Strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to maintain high levels of motivation.
- Strong commitment to realising a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient world.
