Loneliness in the elderly is a topic we feel passionate about. We wanted to work with a group of elderly people in our community and do something proactive to make an impact on their lives. We came up with the idea of visiting our local Nursing Home in Sligo with the aim of befriending the residents and trying to build relationships with them. We hoped our visits would help offset some of the loneliness they encounter on a weekly basis as our visits would give the residents something to look forward to. In the process we decided to write down some of their amazing stories and capture their precious memories in a book we're compiling, 'A Trip Down Memory Lane': Stories from Summerville, Sligo.
