Child Safeguarding

Young Social Innovators (YSI) is fully committed to creating a safe, supportive, and healthy environment for all young people participating in our programmes, workshops, and events. We take our duty of care seriously and ensure the safety and welfare of all children and young people involved in our work.

Our Child Safeguarding Statement, developed in line with the Children First Act 2015, the Children First: National Guidance, and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding requirements, outlines how we protect children from harm. This includes clear procedures and policies on:

• Safe engagement between YSI staff, volunteers, mentors, guests, and young people

• Garda vetting and mandatory child protection training for staff

• Supervision requirements at workshops, events, and online sessions

• Policies on bullying, safe use of images, and appropriate boundaries

• Reporting procedures for any child protection or welfare concerns

Our Child Safeguarding Statement is reviewed annually to ensure that the highest standards of child protection and welfare are maintained.
