The Idea

The objective for this project was to raise money for the children in Chernobyl being cared for in orphanages. The other objective for the project was to give families in the local community the opportunity to bring their young children to see Santa in Santa’s Grotto for a great day out, a great cause and all at a reasonable price.

The group selected this issue as it was one which they felt was in desperate need of extra funds.  The kids were in serious need of more attention so as a group, they decided to use Y.S.I as an opportunity to raise funds for the children.

The Action

The group worked with many different people during this project in sourcing gifts for the Grotto, a venue, with different teachers to organise the Grotto and with Cork GAA footballers Ciarán Sheehan and Pa Kelly, who took time out to attend the Grotto. They successfully organised the Grotto and thankfully everything went smoothly on the day of the Grotto.

The Impact

In total, €500 was raised which was then donated to Chernobyl Children International.
