Evelyn McLoughlin, YSI Board Member

Evelyn McLoughlin is Principal of St Mary’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Killester in Dublin.

Originally from Carndonagh, Co Donegal, she qualified as an Irish teacher from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1993 and took up a teaching position at Carndonagh Community School where she worked for 7 years. She later diversified into Guidance and Counselling, graduating from UCD in 1999 and subsequently worked at the Donahies Community School in Donaghmede leading their Guidance Department for 7 years.

In 2007 she was seconded to the Department of Education as an Advisory, providing professional learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders in a range of pedagogical, curricular and educational areas.

In 2010, she was appointed Deputy Principal in St Mary’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Killester, and took up the role as Principal in 2014. In tandem, she is Associate Advisory to the Junior Cycle for Teachers, an agency of the Department of Education working in the design and delivery of Continuous Professional Development to school leaders on junior cycle reform. In 2012, Evelyn co-founded the mental health charity Cycle Against Suicide creating a schools’ programme for second level students across the island.
