About the Programme
Young Social Innovators (YSI) is proud to launch Ignite Community - a new programme designed to support young people in non formal education to make a real difference in their communities.
Delivered through youth services across Galway, Limerick, Clare and beyond, this innovative programme empowers participants to explore local issues they care about and take creative, collaborative action. Building on over 23 years of experience in youth-led social innovation, YSI is now extending its impact to reach even more young changemakers beyond the school setting.
Why Do It
Through inclusive and empowering activities, young people are encouraged to explore their role in the community and recognise their ability to make a difference. By using their voices and working together, they gain the confidence and skills to take meaningful action on issues they care about.
How It's Delivered
The programme is facilitated by educators (YSI Guides) who guide and support teams reach their full potential. Supported by youth worker training and world class resources, the programme builds resilience and wellbeing and promotes youth participation, youth voice, and community volunteering.
Our Approach
Guided by the YSI Social Innovation Education (SIE) model of learning, Ignite Community facilitators are provided with a variety of activities to support young people in bringing fresh, innovative ideas to social problems. YSI programmes are all about team-based, real life projects that make a difference.
