What Happens When Ideas Ignite?
Young people see problems every day, in their communities, schools, families, and futures. They notice what isn’t working and imagine what could be better.
But knowing what to change is one thing. Knowing how is another.
That’s where Ignite Community comes in. Supported by PEACEPLUS Programme and managed by SEUPB, Ignite Community helps young people outside the main education system turn ideas into action - with the skills, confidence, and support to make real change happen.

Real Change in Action: Peace Patrol
As part of Ignite Community Programme, a group of young people formed Peace Patrol to tackle a problem they saw every day.
On their school bus, journeys were often loud, chaotic, and stressful, especially for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Families sometimes had to take time off work to drive their children, putting extra strain on already stretched households.
Peace Patrol came up with Peace on Route, a digital solution designed to make school bus journeys calmer and more positive.
Their idea: an app with interactive games, rewards, and a leaderboard to encourage teamwork and good behaviour.
They entered their project into a competition and came second, but the bigger win was the impact of their dedication. Through Ignite Community, these young people learned how to take an idea from concept to real action, showing what’s possible when youth are given the support to lead change.
How Ignite Works
At the heart of Ignite Community is youth-led social innovation. Young people:
-
Identify problems that matter to them
-
Work together to generate ideas
-
Test, learn, and improve solutions
Along the way, they gain skills, confidence, and connections and build bridges across communities.
Who Is Ignite For?
Ignite Community is for anyone who wants to make a difference.
For young people, it’s for those who:
-
Care about an issue in their community
-
Have an idea, even if it’s not fully formed
-
Want support, not pressure
-
Want to be heard and taken seriously
For youth workers, educators, and mentors, it’s for those who:
-
Want to empower young people to lead change
-
Are looking for ways to support ideas turning into action
-
Want to create meaningful impact in their communities
-
Believe in giving young people a voice and the tools to succeed
No matter who you are, Ignite Community is a space to turn ideas into action and make real change happen.
