YSI Gold Award Winning Team Appears on Ireland AM

Representatives from the Gold Award winning team 'No Place Like Home' were interviewed by Muireann O'Connell and Tommy Bowe on Ireland AM on 24th May 2022. The students spoke about their YSI project and their No Place Like Home campaign that aimed to raise awareness of the human impact of the mica crisis on young people and their familiies and to call for 100% mica redress.

“Nobody, young or old, should have to deal with the mental pressure and anxiety of losing their home and the financial strain and fear that accompanies this”

Following the successful interview on Ireland AM, the team was invited to speak at the Oireachtas, just before a scheduled government meeting to dicuss the mica crisis. The group's meeting at Leinster House was hosted by Thomas Pringle, Independent TD for Donegal who gave the students a platform to speak about the effects of the mica on young people and their families and how it had impacted on all areas of their lives and wellbeing.

We are all proud of these Donegal students from Loreto, Letterkenny. No Place Like Home YSI; a Young Social Innovators Group from Loreto Letterkenny in Co. Donegal in Ireland. A group of young people campaigning to support and raise awareness for the mica campaign who are always out in front - well done guys!
