We hope to help the society understand that beauty standards do affect a woman's life. Our aim is to help women feel more confident about the way they look. We also want to help women to stop basing their whole womanhood on trying to fit in with the current beauty standards. As part of our project we hope to organise an event where we inform all of the girls in our year about our project. We hope this event will make them feel more confident within themselves.

Our Social Issue

Our team has chosen to address how beauty standards can affect young girls and women in Ireland in various ways.

Why We Chose It

We mainly chose this social issue in order to create a better environment among young girls and women so they can be feel comfortable with their appearance. Beauty standards are an ongoing issue worldwide so we were deeply interested in encouraging and promoting positive beauty standards in our school.

Our Goal

Overall, we have successfully completed our big idea. We held a tea/coffee talk with the girls in our year to give them a better understanding as to what our project was about and to promote beauty standards. We hope to achieve a better understanding of beauty standards for our whole school community. Our goal is to promote beauty standards for all genders in our school.

Our Innovative Action

We have held a tea/coffee talk with the girls in our year to raise awareness about women’s beauty standards. We put up motivational quotes and posters in the girls bathrooms to satisfy girl’s confidence. We also played a Kahoot during the talk to break up the class as it can get boring listening to someone talk for a while. This lead to a better engagement and the girls really enjoyed participating in the game.

Our Impact

We have made a positive different by encouraging girls to feel confident within themselves regardless how they look and if they wear makeup or not. We have also informed them to not feel pressurised into wearing makeup if other girls are wearing it. We also reminded them that they are all beautiful and unique in their own ways.
