Introductory Workshop: 1hr lesson delivered by teacher (in class or virtually) |
Students are introduced to social innovation, social issues and the basics of robotics and how robots can be used to solve social challenges. |
Online Learning: 3 x online coding modules 1hr lesson to get students started followed by independent online self-directed learning (with support from teacher where needed) 2hrs approx per module |
3 online modules completed over 6-8 classes see students code a virtual TrashBot to collect plastic debris from the ocean using drag and drop code commands in a 3D simulated environment. |
Challenge: 1hr class to discuss challenge and brainstorm ideas. Encourage students to complete and submit their challenge proposal |
Students are challenged to design a robotic solution to a social issue they care about that relates to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and to submit their design portfolio online. |
Showcase |
Teams are invited present their ideas and receive feedback from the YSI team and robotics experts. |
