The Social Issue:
This group of young people wanted to make a difference in the busy lives of their fellow students and teachers. They wanted to provide them with a way to switch off and relax.
The Idea:
A new extension to the school had left some old classrooms empty and the idea for their wellbeing room was born. Wellbeing Warriors set about raising €5,000 which was required to renovate the space and kit it out with furnishings and refreshment facilities, as well as a meditation area with music and mindfulness activities. The team also created innovative fundraising opportunities: a Christmas raffle which was held on the day of the Christmas Holidays and raised €250; and a Fashion Show in the local hotel which surpassed all their expectations and raised €4,200. A local donation ensured the team hit their target and allowed them to contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages”.
The Impact:
Ongoing work with Jigsaw has also helped to develop the project and Wellbeing Warriors have created a legacy for their school and the community of students.
