YSI Guides and Advocates get active at January workshops across Ireland

January was a busy month for the YSI Education team as they travelled the length and breadth of the country to deliver trainings at eight different locations, including Dublin, Athlone, Donegal, Cork, Belfast and Derry.  YSI Guides seemed to really enjoy the workshop which focussed on creative communications – timely in advance of the Speak Out preparations going on!

Impressive and innovative pitches wow Dragons at Dublin and Cork YSI Dens

More than 20 YSI teams blew the panel of dragons away in both Dublin and Cork as they pitched their ideas in the hopes of receiving money, means or mentorships. With the help of the Vodafone Ireland Foundation, over 14,000 euros and some 14 mentorships were pledged to some amazing projects.

More than 20 teams of young people will take their turn to face the Young Social Innovators (YSI) Panel of Dragons in 2014, pitching their idea in the hopes of receiving money, means or mentorships. The Dublin Den is the first in the series and takes place in Boston College today.

EXPLORE Social Innovation Workshops up and running

More than 400 students from across Ireland have already taken part in the YSI EXPLORE Social Innovation suite of workshops, taking advantage of the opportunity to engage in social issues in a fun, interactive and positive space. There are three different workshops available, each taking a unique approach that ensures YSI can cater for each and every student..

New Hub-si Award announced for 2014 Annual Showcase

We hope you have all been enjoying exploring YSI’s online social innovation platform Hub-si and are busy working on your project profile. If so, you could be in with a chance of winning the first Hub-si Award at the Showcase next year. The award will recognise the team that has maximised its use of Hubsi and all its features to promote their project. It will be presented to the winning team at the Annual Showcase on 7th May 2014.

Enter the SAGE World Cup through the Den!

The closing date for applications for the first YSI Den is fast approaching as all entries must be in by 20th December 2013. Would your social innovation, enterprise, campaign, production or service benefit from receiving money, means or mentoring? If successful you could be pitching to the Dragons and increasing the impact of your project, with support from the Social Innovation Fund. The Fund is supported by our official partner the Vodafone Ireland Foundation.

Enter The Sage Social Enterprise Business World Cup 2014

This year, through the YSI Den, a team will be chosen to represent Ireland at the SAGE World Cup in August 2014! The SAGE World Cup takes place annually; in 2014 it will take place in Moscow and will bring together young people from all corners of the world to showcase their social entrepreneurial projects.

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs to open second annual youth-led CAST Film Festival

Dublin, 21st November 2013: Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald will open the second annual CAST Film Festival on 21st November when students from Collinstown Park Community College, Clondalkin will deliver an evening which combines glamour, glitz and the hard hitting topic of mental health.

YSI Den Applications Are Open!

This is Young Social Innovators way of supporting social innovators and budding social entrepreneurs. It gives them chance to increase the impact of their innovation, build and sustain it. Whether a social innovation, enterprise, campaign, production or service, they might consider pitching their plan to the YSI Den!

Young Social Innovators has designed a new suite of half day workshops designed to reflect the essential pillars of learning: to be, to know, to do and to live better together.

Calling all young filmmakers to enter Better Together video competition

The Better Together Video Competition provides a platform for Irish charities, community groups, clubs and associations to showcase the work that they do; connect with members of the public; gain new supporters and fundraise. This is the first year there is a Young Filmmaker Award and there are some great prizes up for grabs.
