Our Governance

Young Social Innovators was founded in Ireland by Stanislaus Kennedy and Rachel Collier.

It began its life in 2001 as a pilot project of Social Innovations Foundation Ireland Ltd. Young Social Innovators Ltd. (YSI Ltd) was incorporated in its own right in December 2005. YSI Ltd. was granted Charitable Status in June 2006 and is conducting its business independently since 1st July 2006.

We now work with hundreds of teachers and thousands of young people each year delivering social innovation education programmes, training workshops, events and resources.

Our Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing our strategic direction and our governance. All of our Board members including the Chairperson are volunteers giving their time, skills and expertise to help us advance social innovation education and the empowerment of young people in Ireland.

A Finance, Audit & Governance sub-Committee reports to our Board of Directors and supports us in ensuring the adequacy of risk management, internal controls, efficient and effective use of public funds and governance arrangements within our organisation.

Management and Staff

We are a team of full and part time staff members supported by a Management Team and CEO. We have a panel of YSI Local Leaders and YSI Trainers who help with the delivery of social innovation learning in local areas and the training of educators. We have a wonderful group of volunteers who generously give their time to help us run our regional and national events.

Good Practice in Governance

We are committed to applying the standards and practices outlined within the Governance Code of Practice. We review our organisational practice against the recommended actions for each principle every year.

We are registered with Charities Regulatory Authority (CRA), Ireland's national statutory regulatory agency for charitable organisations.

We confirm that our organisation complies with the Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.

We are committed to keeping children safe from harm. Young Social Innovators has developed a safeguarding statement as required by the Children First Act 2015.

Our safeguarding statement outlines how we work to ensure our services are safe and how we respond to any concerns related to harm of a child quickly and appropriately.
