Young Social Innovators (YSI) - Leading the way in social innovation education

About YSI

Who We Are

Young Social Innovators (YSI) believes that young people are a powerful and largely untapped force for change in their local communities and in wider society. Promoting and leading the way in education for social innovation in Ireland, Young Social Innovators encourages, motivates and creates new opportunities for young people to actively participate in the world around them.

It seeks to engage young people wherever they are – in schools, communities, youth organisations, in families, in or out of work – and prepare them to fully take part in civic action whether through volunteerism, community service, service-learning, citizenship education, social entrepreneurship and innovation.

Through its programmes, training and events, Young Social Innovators enables young people to grapple with difficult social issues, advocating reform and advancing change.

Each year, thousands of young people are supported to explore social issues that concern them, explore and come up with a variety of responses to these.  In this way, Young Social Innovators builds social capital and helps young people create a fairer and more caring Ireland.

Vision and Mission:

Simply expressed in its vision and mission - Young Social Innovators fires young peoples’ passion to change the world for good. It focusses on empowering young people to use their own talents to be social innovators so experiencing and developing their innate sense of justice, responsibility and capacity to create a fairer, more caring and equal society.
