YSI’s Vision and Mission

Young Social Innovators (YSI) believes that young people are a powerful and largely untapped force for change in their local communities and in wider society. Promoting and leading the way in education for social innovation in Ireland, Young Social Innovators encourages, motivates and creates new opportunities for young people to actively participate in the world around them. It seeks to engage young people wherever they are – in schools, communities, youth organizations, in families, in or out of work – and prepare them to fully take part in civic action whether through volunteerism, community service, service-learning, citizenship education, social entrepreneurship and innovation.

In this way, Young Social Innovators is dedicated to building social capital in Ireland by way of promoting the education and practice of social innovation in Ireland. It enables young people to grapple with difficult social issues, advocating reform and advancing change. Each year, thousands of young people are supported and nurtured in working together researching and presenting projects on social issues and concerns in Ireland. YSI believes that building social capital in this way will play a major role in creating a fairer and more caring Ireland.

Simply expressed in its vision and mission - Young Social Innovators fires young peoples’ passion to change the world for good by working to develop young people as practicing social innovators in Ireland so that they develop their innate sense of justice, responsibility and capacity – thereby enabling and encouraging them to participate in creating a fairer, more caring & equal society.
