The Most Fun You Can Have Changing the World
YSI Activate is the ultimate experience in changing the world for teenagers in Ireland. Embark on a journey where you call the shots, where you decide the issue you're going to tackle, AND how you're going to do it! Working in a team, you'll be challenged to come up with and test a creative idea that makes a real and tangible difference for people, communities or the environment and, on the way, you'll discover skills and talents you never knew you had!
Before I started YSI, I had no confidence whatsoever. Doing the SpeakOuts and the showcases built my confidence. People don't listen to people our age, but when you're in young social innovator, they actually listen to you.
What difference wil you make?
Through YSI Activate, you have the opportunity to make a real difference in your own life and the lives of others. Over 150,000 teenagers have already taken part and the impact of their work is still being felt in communities across Ireland today. Whatever the social issue you choose to tackle, you'll have a powerful story to tell about what you've done to change the world. Not everyone can say that!
The YSI Speak Out Tour
Ever stood on a stage and presented your idea to hundreds of people? That's exactly the experience you'll get during the famous YSI Speak Out Tour - a non stop rush of energy, noise, creativity, inspiration and impact. Every Activate team is invited to share your ideas and actions with other teams from your region as well as to an expert panel!
YSI Awards
Think your idea is innovative enough to compete nationally? Activate teams have the option to enter the YSI Awards that celebrate excellence in social innovation by young people. If shortlisted, your team will be invited to compete against others working on a similar theme. One team annually is crowned the Young Social Innovators of the Year!
Why do it?
There are loads of reasons to get involved, from learning new skills and putting your talents to use for a good cause, to building friendships and working together to make a difference. You'll make connections out in your community, be listened to in a way you never imagined, and you could even find yourself pitching for funding or being interviewed in the media! All of this AND it's great fun. But don't take it from us...
