Emmanuel has designed a handwashing device which allows for hands-free operation.

He wanted to provide a safe hand washing facility for people in his community, to help stop the spread of Coronavirus, as existing facilities were potentially putting people at risk.

Good hand hygiene has been identified as an important preventive measure against Coronavirus and Emmanuel wanted to design something to facilitate this.

His design allows the user to dispense soap and water to wash their hands without touching anything. It uses a system of pedals to dispense both the soap and the water, thus making it completely hands-free. Existing hand washing facilities in his town use buckets which are lifted by hand, and so there is more potential for the virus to be passed from person to person.

Emmanuel believes his device will support the effort to eradicate Coronavirus, and also inspire further innovation and design for a better future.
