David is bringing a coffee truck to the pier in his home town in Donegal, safely supplying coffees and treats, whilst also raising funds for local charities that support people in need during this time. He wants to provide a safe space for people to meet up outside, bringing some joy to the area. Giving back to the people in his community is important to David.

The Weighbridge is his new coffee truck, based on a pier in Donegal town, from which David will provide coffees, teas and baked goods to the community. It will allow people the space to meet up safely and maintain social distancing, while enjoying the beautiful views of the bay.

A portion of all money made will be given back to local charity ChefAid, who provide food to elderly people and people who can't access local shops. During his free time David volunteers at ChefAid delivering dinners. It is a charity which is very close to his heart.

David had worked in local coffee shops in Donegal town for several years but recently lost his job as a result of Covid-19. He now gets to combine his experience with his passion for baking and bring this new service to his local area.

“I hope my coffee truck will have a positive influence on the community of Donegal Town and provide much needed funds for ChefAid and other local charities. My wish is also to bring a service for people of all ages to enjoy some good coffee and treats while exercising around the pier. Building a feel good factor!”
