Mary has answered the #YSIOpenCall all the way from Tanzania!

Mary, together with her team, recognised that innovators with ideas to help combat issues resulting from Covid-19, particularly young people in developing countries, might not have the ability to connect with those who could help support and develop their ideas. There could be young people all over the world who are coming up with solutions to problems we are now facing, but they might not have the opportunity to have their ideas heard, or to connect with people who could help them to take their idea to the next stage of development.

Mary and her team would like to create an online platform to bring together these young people, no matter where they are in the world, with people who can help.

There is an opportunity to give these innovators a space where they can ideate, develop and collaborate on solutions to issues we are all facing.

Mary is concerned that young people, in developing countries particularly, might not be able to put their ideas into action without support from a community of innovators and sponsors, with whom they could collaborate and develop their ideas.

The team highlight that the Covid-19 pandemic is a global issue, and therefore requires a collaborative response as a global community.
