Working as a team, 16-year old Ellie and her friends from Castleisland, Kerry, have developed the idea of using social media campaigns to support mental health and wellbeing during this time.

The team are focused on supporting the wellbeing of students, teachers and members of their locaility in the midst of Covid-19. Having seen the strain the current crisis was having on young people in their area, Ellie and her team wanted to help. Promoting the idea of keeping people connected and supporting good mental health while keeping a safe distance, the team have designed a 7 day social media challenge called #LifeSaversWeek.

Including a focus for each day, the campaign has themes such as as such as #GetActive and #GetCreative, which encourage people to take up different activities and stay focused, stay positive and stay connected.

By making use of accessible online ways to stay in touch with friends and family, Ellie and her team are harnessing social media to have a positive impact on their wider community. The team are pleased with how the campaign has been received so far and how more people in their Castleisland community are getting involved as a result of their idea!
